We Analyzed 260 Landing Pages with AI. Here Is What We Found.
Real data from 260 AI-analyzed landing pages reveals the most common mistakes killing conversions. Average score: 68/100. See where most founders get it wrong.
We ran 260 landing pages through our AI analysis engine. Every page got scored on design, copy, conversion optimization, UX, and AI search visibility.
The average score? 68 out of 100.
That sounds decent until you realize what it actually means. Most pages are leaving serious money on the table. Not because of one big flaw, but because of a pile of small ones that add up fast.
Here is what the data told us.
The Number One Problem: Vague Headlines
The single most common issue across all 260 pages was the headline. Too many landing pages open with something like:
> "Leading the way with MarTech Solutions"
That tells the visitor nothing. What does the product do? Who is it for? Why should anyone care?
The best-performing pages had headlines that were specific. They named the problem, named the audience, and hinted at the outcome. No fluff, no jargon, no corporate-speak.
If you fix one thing on your landing page today, make it the headline.
The Most Ignored Dimension: Conversion
Here is something that surprised us. Out of four core dimensions we score, conversion optimization came in dead last at 63 out of 100.
For comparison:
- Design: 70/100
- Copy: 69/100
- UX: 70/100
- Conversion: 63/100
Founders obsess over how the page looks. They tweak colors, swap fonts, adjust spacing. Meanwhile, their CTA is buried below the fold, there is no social proof in sight, and the form asks for six fields when two would do.
Design matters. But conversion optimization is what turns visitors into customers, and it is consistently the weakest area we see.
What the Top Pages Have in Common
46 pages scored 80 or above. 13 scored below 40.
We looked at what separated them, and four patterns showed up every time in the top group:
- A clear headline that says what the product does. No metaphors. No buzzwords. Just a straight answer to "what is this?"
- A CTA visible without scrolling. The visitor should never have to hunt for the next step.
- Social proof in the first viewport. Logos, testimonials, or user counts right at the top.
- Page loads in under 2.5 seconds. Speed is not optional. Slow pages lose visitors before the headline even renders.
Pages below 40 had none of these. Not one.
Half of All Pages Have Zero AI Search Optimization
This one is the sleeper finding. 49% of the pages we analyzed have weak or zero AI search optimization.
That means when someone asks ChatGPT for a recommendation, or searches on Perplexity, or triggers a Google AI Overview, these products will not get mentioned. They are invisible to AI.
Most founders have not even thought about this yet. They are still optimizing for traditional Google results while the way people search is shifting under their feet.
AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) are the biggest missed opportunities in 2026. The pages that figure this out early will have a massive advantage.
The Numbers at a Glance
Here is a snapshot across all 260 pages:
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Average issues per page | 7 |
| Critical issues found | 259 |
| Design average | 70/100 |
| Copy average | 69/100 |
| Conversion average | 63/100 |
| UX average | 70/100 |
| Pages scoring 80+ | 46 |
| Pages scoring below 40 | 13 |
| Pages with weak/no AI optimization | 49% |
Every one of these issues has a specific fix. That is the thing most people miss. Landing page problems are not mysterious. They are identifiable and they are fixable.
The Five Most Common Problems
Across all 260 pages, these were the issues that came up most often:
- Vague, generic headlines that do not communicate what the product does
- Weak CTAs that use passive language or get lost in the layout
- Inconsistent whitespace that breaks visual hierarchy and makes the page feel cluttered
- Limited footer navigation that misses an opportunity to guide visitors deeper
- No AI search optimization leaving products invisible to ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews
If your landing page has even two of these, you are leaving conversions on the table.
What This Means for You
The gap between a 40-scoring page and an 80-scoring page is not talent or budget. It is attention to fundamentals.
Write a headline that says what your product does. Put your CTA where people can see it. Add social proof early. Make sure your page loads fast. And start thinking about how AI search engines will find you. For a full breakdown, read our guide on what makes a good landing page.
These are not revolutionary ideas. But the data shows that most pages still get them wrong. The right landing page optimization tool can identify these issues automatically.
